New leadership of the ICC Swiss Commission on Arbitration and ADR as of 20 February 2023
Urs Weber-Stecher will resign as President of the ICC Swiss Commission of Arbitration and ADR as of 20 February 2023. Following the proposal of the Swiss Arbitration Nomination Committee, the Board of ICC Switzerland has elected Simon Gabriel as his successor.
ICC Switzerland is very grateful to Urs Weber-Stecher for his excellent and tireless work for ICC arbitration in Switzerland and the liaison with the ICC Secretariat in Paris in connection with the nomination of Swiss arbitrators. Thanks to Urs, the Swiss Commission changed its organizational structure in March 2019 and has since fully complied with the requirements of the Secretariat of the ICC Court. ICC Switzerland has always appreciated his pragmatic approach and in general the very good and pleasant cooperation with Urs. We are therefore glad that we will not lose him completely, as he will continue to participate as an ordinary member of the Commission.
Simon Gabriel will take office on 20 February 2023. We are convinced that our Commission will have an excellent President in Simon, who has been an active member of our Commission for many years and has always been in good contact with the Secretariat in Paris.
The Swiss Commission of Arbitration and ADR of ICC is the main body of ICC Switzerland responsible for the coordination of Swiss contributions to the ICC Dispute Resolution activities, mainly in the ICC Commission on Arbitration and ADR in Paris, for proposals for nominations of arbitrators to the ICC Court as well as for the promotion of ICC Dispute Resolution Services in Switzerland.
