The business contribution to the UN Sustainable Development Goals
One year after the approval of the UN Sustainable Development Agenda 2030 – how ICC and companies contribute
Monday 3 October 2016, 14:00 in Berne
In September 2015, the member states of the United Nations approved a new global development agenda (Agenda 2030) with a set of Development Goals designed to resolve two of the most critical issues confronting the world community: to eradicate poverty and to promote sustainable development. Companies have a decisive role to these Development Goals in the context of their own activities, independent of government programs.
ICC Switzerland will organize a seminar on 3 October 2016 in Berne. With this seminar, companies will show concretely how they contribute with their strategy in the SDGs. The state of the UN process will be presented by Louise Kantrow, ICC Permanent Representative to the United Nations. The Swiss process will be presented by Till Berger. Andrea Bacher, Senior Policy Manager and Executive in charge of energy, environment, and green economy at ICC will present the contribution of the ICC Charter for Sustainable Development and concrete examples. The case studies will show what the companies do concretely.
